Sweaters for men can be an overwhelming shopping task with all the frumpy silhouettes and itchiness. To simplify your sweater hunt, I researched the various sweaters you may need this season from lightweight options that practically resemble long sleeve t-shirts, to heavy sweaters worthy of 30° temperatures.
Nordstrom Men’s Shop Roll Neck Sweater
The combination of cotton and cashmere is my number one favorite fabric blend for sweaters. You get all the luxe of cashmere without any of the itch. At this price, this Nordstrom Men’s Shop Cotton & Cashmere Roll Neck Sweater will be sold out in a week.
Sizing Note: Runs long. This is for the taller fellas.
Tommy Bahama Quiltessential Quarter Zip Pullover
The style of this cotton Tommy Bahama Quarter Zip Pullover achieves that balance between work and weekend for extra versatility. Pair this itch-free sweater with jeans or chinos.
Sizing Note: Runs a little wide.
Nordstrom Men’s Shop Marled Fisherman Sweater
Fisherman sweaters tend to be very chunky, but this Nordstrom Men’s Shop Marled Fisherman Sweater is a delightful exception. The medium weight adds versatility and the texture is yummy soft despite it being 28% wool. It must be the 43% cotton in it. Add in that rich blue color, and this sweater is the best of its style.
Sizing Note: True to size.
Schott NYC Fisherman Knit Wool Blend Sweater
This Schott NYC Fisherman Knit Wool Blend Sweater is a true winter garment for cold weather cities like New York. Layer it over a long sleeve t-shirt if itch is a concern.
Sizing Note: Runs a little big.
Rag & Bone Brody Intarsia Pullover
This Rag & Bone Brody Intarsia Pullover is perfect for a San Diego winter, but can be worn year round. Ignore the the image’s suggestion, and pair this lightweight sweater with medium wash blue jeans, royal blue casual pants like the AG Pants in Dusky Cobalt, or tan denim like DL1961’s pants in Horn.
Sizing Note: Best for taller fellas.
Schott NYC Road Runner Wool Blend Cardigan
This Schott NYC Road Runner Wool Blend Cardigan is a cheeky winter goodie with padding around the shoulders for extra warmth. Amazingly, there is no itch due to it’s polyester lining. Pair over t-shirts, but feel free to layer over collared shirts as well. Tip: the image is a tad deceiving. It doesn’t have a hood. That’s just the stylish collar.
Sizing Note: Runs big.
Ted Baker Gelato Jacquard Sweater
This Ted Baker Gelato Jacquard Sweater is deliciously itch-free and great for dressy occasions. It is also one of the most fashion forward sweaters that can work in a classic way. Pair it with tan jeans, and grey or navy boots. It can also go with medium grey to charcoal colored pants.
Sizing Note: Runs slim and short. Order a size or two up.
French Connection Intarsia Lambswool Sweater
This French Connection Fumio Intarsia Lambswool Blend Sweater is a thicker more casual version of the Ted Baker sweater listed above. Pair it with tan or medium blue jeans for a warm casual look and layer over a long sleeve t-shirt to avoid that wooly itch.
Sizing Note: Despite the baggy fit on the model, this sweater runs true to size.
Topman Textured Sweater
This 100% cotton Topman Textured Sweater is a perfect basic. You can wear this lightweight sweater like a long sleeve t-shirt for mild winters. For colder temperatures, add a thin, fitted long sleeve tee under it. If you’re still cold, add a coat. My only concern is the inside tag reads, “Keep Away From Fire,” in huge bloody red letters. No, I am not joking. It really says that. Um, I thought cotton was the best fabric when the happenstance of fire occurred? Insert shoulder shrug emoji. I’d still buy it.
Sizing Note: Runs lean and long.
